Becoming what I am you become none other than myself

Ode to a Dream Gone Sour

I went to church today
To hear the preacher say
Soon I would be damned
Without the divine plan
The preacher was a strong sort
Accustomed to large snorts of Christianity

        The deeper we sinned       chorus
The harder he prayed
For he’d fifty souls to save that day
The room grew hot
The air was stale
The preacher kept up his fiery spell

One by one the sinners prayed
He soon had 10 who felt they’d strayed
His voice as loud as thunder
Righteously he plundered
All who dared a different day

The preacher was sure, he left no doubt
The only way was to stand and shout
Jesus, save me from my sins
Jesus, show me how to begin
Jesus, help me mend my ways
Jesus, touch me and I’ll be saved

Like a master weaver, the preacher told
A story gentle, a story bold
Until the church, and all within
Had been convinced, they lived in sin
       10 more sinners became devout
Then 10 again with a single shout
The preacher power was waxing strong
       Sinners knew where they belonged

       Powerful story that preacher preached
It caught and held you if asleep
Me I choose the open air
The sun, the wind, a gentle mare

I’ve the right, to stand-alone
The love of God flowing through my bones
I’ve no need for a fiery hell
I now cast off your deathly spell
So rave on preacher, your day is done
For I am standing, standing, standing

In the Sun!!!

Saturday night at the Bars

Another night of hollow cheer
Smiling faces bought with beer
How translucent the thin veneer
Smoky air can’t hide the fear
Clutching conversation shows clear
Each in our own worlds which bring us here
Some like the bars, others fast cars
Some go for preachers, others truth teachers
But in the end, it’s left up to us my friend
To be who we are, and reach for our own special star!

                                        Heart Life

My love is a geyser bursting forth from within
Cleansing all as it shoots forth, where does it begin?
My love is dew water that cleanses my eyes
Takes away the fetters that seemingly hide
The world as it is, simple and true
Source of all love, I am grateful to you.

Feeling wonderment, rhapsody, joy, and good cheer
Do these feelings lead thee to draw back in fear?
Fear is an answer, a boon, in its way
It hardens and tempers, and makes crystal clear
The things we hold on to when we are in fear
Which keep us from feeling, this moment, this day
We’ve left the Presence and in our minds we stay

Grasp life tightly and life slips away
But live life lightly and find that life stays
